Description

Presentation of the book Gramsci in Gran Bretagna, edited by Derek Boothman, Francesco Giasi, Giuseppe Vacca. Part of the series Studi gramsciani nel mondo.

Since the mid-sixties, and notably since the publication in 1971 of the anthology Selections from the Prison Notebooks, the interest for Gramsci in Great Britain has constantly increased. Through the writings by the most influential commentators of Gramsci’s thought, this book examines the most significant moments of its penetration in British culture.

The introduction is dedicated to Gramsci’s fortune in Great Britain, closely linked to Piero Sraffa’s role. The book includes essays by Perry Anderson, Quintin Hoare and Geoffrey Nowell-Smith, Victor G. Kiernan, Eric J. Hobsbawm, Stuart Hall, David Forgacs, Richard Bellamy, Anne Showstack Sassoon, Adam David Morton, Peter Thomas, Chris Harman and Derek Boothman.
