About this event
Come and join us for a workshop to learn to crochet.
If you're a complete beginner, you'll learn:
- What tools and materials to use
- How to make a granny square
- How to change colours in your work
- How to secure/finish your work
- You'll also receive instructions on how to make a granny square tote bag once you've mastered the granny square
For improvers who already know a few basic stitches, come and learn how to upcycle an old tote bag and turn it into a fantastic granny square tote bag. For improvers, you will learn:
- How to join granny squares
- How to create borders using different stitches like hdc and popcorn (no idea what these mean? That's OK! We'll walk you through it!)
- You'll also receive instructions on how to make a granny square tote bag and finish it at home
All materials to get you started will be provided including a 5mm crochet hook and some yarn.
Everyone has their own preferences on colour and types of yarn they want to use and so if you already have yarn (DK or Aran weight) then feel free to bring some along. In order to reduce waste, I do not sell yarn packs for this project but can advise on where to purchase different types of yarn suitable for this project.
The finished project is an upcycled tote bag, so feel free to bring one along if you want to line your crochet bag.
About Mei:
I'm a serial dabbler of textile crafts, forever flitting from a knit, crochet or sewing project, sometimes even using a combination of techniques. What I love most is colour - the more colour the better, I say. So if you're interested in learning to crochet as well as getting some tips on how to combine different colours so that they pop, then this is the workshop for you!

PLEASE READ BEFORE BOOKING:
The workshops will be held in the Great Barn at Ruislip Duck Pond Market. The market will be busy with lots of people shopping but we have a dedicated space for these workshops.
Workshops are suitable for all ages but under 10s must be accompanied by an adult.
No prior experience necessary.
