Join us for a focused workshop led by Professor Peter Oakley (RCA) on how to develop a robust and impactful grant application This session will equip you with strategic insights and practical tools to strengthen your funding bid.

  • Key components of a strong grant application, including clarity of research questions, impact articulation, and methodology alignment.
  • How to position your project within current funding landscapes (such as UK RI funding, AHRC, etc.).
  • Common pitfalls and how to avoid them from the perspective of a successful researcher who has led multiple funded programmes.
  • Tips for creative and applied research contexts – how to translate practice-based work into fundable research narratives.

About the speaker:
Professor Peter Oakley is Professor of Material Culture at the Royal College of Art, and leads major research programmes on sustainability, craft, heritage and materials. With extensive experience in securing and leading funded research across sectors, Peter brings practical insight into grant design, interdisciplinary collaboration and research impact.
