About this event

  • 4 hours

Applying for Fellowships, writing grant applications and bidding for project funding is an essential part of academic life. This workshop will help you identify and investigate a wide range of funding sources as well as developing a targeted research statement. This workshop will enable you to:

  • Assess what a targeted grant awarding body is trying to achieve
  • Develop a research aim/question statement
  • Review the basic components of a budget
  • Critically analyse the questions in the grant request forms
  • Consider how to build 'impact' into the proposal
  • Have insight into the issues faced by a panel as it decides whether to award a grant

Welcome to the LSE PhD Academy Eventbrite page.  We host a varied menu of events for LSE doctoral students which range from advanced methodology training and interdisciplinary workshops to professional development events and writing groups.

Our programme changes throughout the year but advance details of what is on offer can always be found on the Event and Courses section of the PhD Academy webpages.  This has the complete list of our events, some will require you to use different booking systems for different events.  We are currently in the process of reviewing our booking systems and hope to make it more streamline in the future.

The PhD Academy is based on the 4th floor of the Lionel Robbins building where we have a teaching room, common room and office space.  We look forward to meeting you and welcome your feedback, either in person or you can contact us by email at phdacademy@lse.ac.uk or by telephone on 020 7955 6607.
