This walk, led by local historian Kenneth Williamson, will commence at granton:hub's historic Madelvic House, taking participants via Granton Square to nearby Granton Harbour. The tour will include an engaging talk on the building of the harbour and its piers, the railways, the fishing fleet, the diversity of goods and trade, the introduction of ferries, and more. Kenneth will highlight the success of this vital Scottish port since its completion in 1844. He will highlight the historic context as well as share some of his own personal memories as a young lad living and working in the area.
The tour will take around 1.5-2 hours at a leisurely stroll. Toilets will be available on arrival. Participants are advised to arrive 10 minutes early (10.50am). They should wear suitable clothing and footwear and bring their own refreshments.
A maximum of 12 tickets are available.
Tickets are priced at £3.50 + eventbrite fee and are not refundable. However, in the event you are unable to attend you can edit your attendance and send your ticket to someone else.
