Event description

Description

Graphic Brighton 2018 explores the rich and diverse relationship between comics and music. As an event which aims to be interdisciplinary, we invite audiences from academic and creator-based backgrounds in Comics, Visual Cultures, Music, English, Art Histories, and more to open discussion across the disciplines.

On the evening of Thursday 19th July, there will be a comic creators' discussion, film screening and live musical performance at the Phoenix Gallery Green Room (central Brighton). All are welcome, but you need to register for the event. Entrance is free.

The free main symposium event takes place on Friday 20th July from 9.30 to 17.40 at the University of Sussex, Falmer in Building Pevensey 1, Lecture Theatre 1A6. The day will include talks from comics creators as well as comics scholars. Attendance from non-speakers is welcome, but you will need to regsiter for the event.

Both events are made possible by funding from the University of Sussex Researcher Led Initiative Fund.

Graphic Brighton is curated by Barbara Chamberlin, Alex Fitch and Elle Whitcroft, with support from Aanchal Vij.
