About this event

A one-day course aimed at improving attendees’ skill and confidence with identifying the main species of grasses and flowers found in semi-improved and unimproved grassland habitats. The morning will be spent introducing easy ways to recognise and learn these plants, with an opportunity in the afternoon to practise and improve on survey techniques, including walkover surveys and quadrat sampling.

About the tutor:

Leif Bersweded is a highly experienced botanist, with a life long interest in nature. He is the highly celebrated author of The Orchid Hunter and co-author of The Photographic Guide to Winter Trees and Shrubs. He has been tutoring courses for over 5 years, both for SRT and The Wildlife Trusts.

Course certificate

This course can be used as part of your Continuing Professional Development (CPD). We invite attendees to download their own certificate and complete the numbers of hours spent on the course, as we are aware some attendees spend more time reading up about courses before the day, and writing their notes up and sitting the online course tests afterwards. The hours on your certificate should accurately reflect this time.

Feedback from the previous course:

Leif's relaxed style of training, with constant recaps, was very good.

The location was fabulous, and the tutor was brilliant at making everything simple and easy to learn.

A lot of repetition which really helps!

It is good to have some time in the afternoon for the identification in little groups, as we can test our newly gained knowledge.

Great pace and clear teaching.
