As part of the Gravesham Christmas Festival programme 2016, "Merry Christmas Everyone", Gravesham Borough Council has teamed up for the second year in a row with St George's Church, Emmanuel Baptist Church and The Blake Galley to invite individuals, families, charities, schools, businesses, clubs and societies to decorate a tree for display in their venue.
The Council is providing the trees which will be around 6ft tall. You will be providing the decorations and materials for the trees. Please note that your Christmas lights should be battery operated.
As far as decoration is concerned, you might want to create a display representing something dear to you or it could be themed around your club and organisation, etc. The only limit is your imagination, so unleash your creativity!
Trees will be decorated at the venues during the week prior to the event on the Saturday.
On Saturday 10 December, the Mayor of Gravesham will visit the locations. She will, alongside visitors, be asked to vote for her favourite tree. While the venues will be open to visitors until 4pm, voting will close at 2pm and the winners will be announced after the Nativity Parade at 3.30pm. Of course there will be a prize!
St George's Church: You will decorate your tree on Friday 9 December from 2pm.
Emmanuel Baptist Church: You will decorate your tree from Wednesday 7 to Friday 9 December (please contact the church to organise a time)
The Blake Gallery: You will decorate your tree on Friday 9 December from 2pm.
If you wish to donate your tree to a charity or families in need, please let us know. You will need to provide a box so decorations can easily been stored and taken away with tree.
However, if you wish to keep your tree, please liaise with the churches regarding collection time.
Trees will be allocated on a first come first serve basis. You can chose your location in the first instance; however, in case of trees being fully booked in one of the venues, you will be redirected to another one.
