Developing Art and Design Skills for Primary Teachers P4-7

Sat 4th March 2017 10am – 3pm
This workshop will explore the basic language and techniques of Art and Design, offering a range of activities that can be delivered throughout the upper primary stages.
The Visual Elements, ie: line, tone, colour, pattern, texture, shape and form will be explained, with practical skills sessions, experimenting with the basic art materials and tools that are available in school.
Course structure (we will take a short lunch break during this time):
10.00-10.30 Introduction and explanations how Art and Design
articulates with and supports the Curriculum for Excellence
10.30-12.00 Practical session exploring the Visual Elements, the vocabulary
of Art and Design and how they can be applied to everyday
activities in class, the importance of contextual references
12.00-2.00 Practical session exploring simple block printing ( all children
enjoy printing and learn so many associated skills)
2.00- 3.00pm Discussions, demonstrations on how to apply different techniques to enhance class projects and instill the benefits of creativity in all pupil’s work.
Please bring a packed lunch. Tea and coffee will be available throughout the day.
