Keston Cobblers Club + Maz O'Connor
It has taken quite a while to persuade Keston Cobblers Club to come and play for us at Grayshott Folk Club but finally our persistence has paid off and we look forward to what should be a fun night of cracking music.
“Rambunctious folk and joyous elemental pop” ~ The Guardian
Over the last few years, Keston Cobblers Club have been steadily building a name for themselves and winning over an army of loyal fans. They’ve played some of the UK’s biggest festivals, including Glastonbury, Bestival, Cambridge Folk Festival, Wilderness and Green Man; sold out their own headline tours; been playlisted by 6Music and Amazing Radio; and been invited to perform live on BBC Radio by the likes of Dermot O’Leary, Steve Lamacq and Bob Harris. Their latest album Wildfire, won them huge praise everywhere from MOJO magazine, The Guardian, The Independent and Financial Times to Songlines, fRoots and Clash. Burberry asked the band to perform at their Menswear SS2106 event to a VIP audience. And after a triumphant UK tour including sell-out dates at London’s Lexington and Scala, the band were invited to open for Bellowhead on their farewell tour. As fans will know, the Cobblers’ music isn’t just uplifting; it’s often a full-on celebration. Their live shows are displays of genuine warmth and dazzling musicianship. With a new album slated for early 2017, the band continues to delight audiences across the country.
Support: Maz O'Connor.
Maz is a brilliant Folk musician in her own right and has headlined for us at Grayshott before. She was featured on BBC Radio 2's Folk Show last Wednesday (29th June 2016) and was interviewed by Mark Radcliffe about her involvement in the "Sweet Liberties" project, which celebrated the 800th anniversary of the signing of the Magna Carta and 750 years since the formation of the first Parliament. Mark also played a track which Maz recorded for the project and it was called "Rich Man's Hill"
