Challenge. Training. Responsibility. Adventure. Become a British Army Officer and
nothing is out of your range. As an Officer in the Army Reserve you will represent the
British Army within your community as well as providing essential support to national
defence. Whether it is commanding a platoon of soldiers on operations, leading your
troops in support of disaster relief or parading to pay the nation’s respects at the
cenotaph, you will lead a life that is far from routine. Being an officer is about leading
from the front and caring for your soldiers. As a newly commissioned Officer you will
be supported by your team of training staff, but your example, enthusiasm and vision
will be the driving force. Not only will you receive the best leadership and management
training in the world, at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, you’ll also have the
chance to take part in adventurous pursuits that develop individual courage as well as
other personal attributes that are vital to being an effective Army Officer.
WHAT YOU CAN DO
Officers in engineering units have the job of finding solutions
to practical problems on the battlefield.

Search Troop Commander
Not essential, but ideally a technical degree
(Engineering, Maths, Physics, Computer Science or ICT).
INTELLIGENCE, IT & COMMS
Gathering and distributing information quickly and securely
gives an important advantage on the battlefield.
Communication Troop Commander
A language, Computer Science or ICT degree would be helpful.
