Description

The Great British Beer Festival Winter is back in Norwich from 19-23 February 2019 for another incredible five days of the best beer, local breweries, food, music and good times.

It'll be a warm winter celebration of all things beer, with a massive range of great real ales, world beers, and ciders, so whether you love the classics or want to discover a new favourite, this is the place to be. We're filling the stunning medieval friary halls in the heart of Norwich with hundreds of beers, including the winners of the Champion Winter Beer of Britain competition!

The festival is open to the public on the 20th - 23rd February 2019 12:00 - 22:30, with an exclusive members-only session on the 19th from 17:30- 22:30!

Members can gain free entrance on the door to all sessions, simply bring your valid CAMRA card with you.

Advance tickets include your entry to one session of the festival, £7 worth of beer tokens and your Festival Glass.

Last Admission: half hour before close. No pass-outs will be allowed.

Beer Tasting Sessions

We are pleased to be running beer tasting sessions each day at the festival from Wednesday to Saturday. Sessions last one to one and a half hours and are all hosted by at least one Beer Sommelier. Tickets cost £12 for CAMRA members and £15 for non-CAMRA members, and entrance to the festival is included in the cost of the ticket.

Wednesday
12pm - Champion Beers
A tasting of those beers which have won in the Champion Winter Beer of Great Britain categories. The categories in this competition are Old Ale/Strong Mild, Porter, Stout and Barley Wine/Strong Old Ale. We will be tasting, subject to availability as some years the gold winners in this competition do sell out, the winners and runners up in each category with an opportunity to see if they are worthy winners. This session will be led by Beer Sommelier Robin Parker.

6pm - Evening Champion Beers
A tasting of those beers which have won in the Champion Winter Beer of Great Britain categories. Thursday
6pm - Belgian Beers
For this session we will taste 5/6 beers from Belgium. We will discover the difference between Abbey and Trappist beers, why Belgian beers are so different from English beers and why Belgian beers are recognised as some of the best in the world. You will sample some of the oldest styles of beers as well as at least one beer from the last remaining true Abbey brewery in Belgium, Val Dieu. This session will be led by Cheryl Cade Beer Sommelier, Cicerone Certified Beer Server and Award-Winning Tour Designer.

Friday
6pm - Fruit Beers
A tasting of Fruit Beers both UK, Belgian and hopefully some from other parts of the world. We will have examples from Cask, Keg and Bottle covering the varied and interesting selection of fruit beers available at the Festival. We will be tasting at least 6 beers with some interesting and new flavours to try. This session will be led by Robin Parker Beer Sommelier, St Peter’s Brewery.

Saturday
12pm - An Introduction to Beer
This tasting will give an insight as to how beer is made you will get to understand the 4 basic ingredients and how they affect flavour, they also get to understand the difference between 4 different beer styles. We will also be tasting at least one of the Champion Winter Beers as judged earlier in the week. After this session you will be able to impress your friends and fellow drinkers with your new beer knowledge. This session will be led by Cheryl Cade, Beer Sommelier, Cicerone Certified Beer Server and Award-Winning Tour Designer.

You must be 18+ to attend. Unfortunately we are unable to allow families into the event.

What's the refund policy?

Unfortunately we do not offer refunds for this event.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

Yes, please bring your ticket with you.

Is it ok if the name on my ticket or registration doesn't match the person who attends?

Yes, your ticket can be used by anyone who is 18+.


Is there a CAMRA Member discount?

All CAMRA members can gain access to the festival for free on the door only. There is no CAMRA Member discount on our advance tickets.
