Join us for an exclusive opportunity to hear more about this RIBA East Award winning building from the architect who designed it.
As part of this series of events showcasing 2016's Award winners, the Centre for Mathematical Sciences in Cambridge will host a talk by architect Jamie Campbell from Bell Phillips Architects and client Simon Rawson from Thurrock Council.
"The RIBA East jury felt that the client and architect had both worked extremely hard to provide a facility for the residents that will be both a rewarding and enriching place to grow old, and also importantly act as a catalyst for development in the area in the long term".
Bell Phillips Architects and Thurrock Council Housing Department have worked together to produce a development that brings to life an underused site, previously used as a car park, which sits between the town centre and a sheltered community garden. The building form is simple, using three linked pavilions to reduce overall impact. This solution balances the protection of the garden with views through the development and potential future routes to the town centre.
