Great Debaters Club: Rhetoric Masterclass
Saturday, 6 February 2016 from 10:30 to 16:30 (GMT)
San Francisco, California
London, United Kingdom
This workshop is FREE for members of the Great Debaters Club
The purpose of a Great Debater is to help their audience make a big decision by assessing the available options. We would like to believe that these decisions are made purely on the strength of the evidence, but research into the Science of Persuasion tells us otherwise. It shows us that being likeable and relatable are just as important - if not more so - than having all the facts.
This workshop will introduce you to some of the techiques, known as rhetorical devices, that great orators use to persuade their audiences. Our aim is to teach you how to prime your audience to give your evidence the attention it deserves and how to tell when someone is trying to manipulate you into ignoring the weaknesses in their evidence.
You can review the plan for the day in full here. You can also find out more about the Great Debaters Club and how to join by downloading our 2016 programme here or contacting Tony Koutsoumbos (that's me) at firstname.lastname@example.org
