About this event

We absolutely love wildlife - and bet you do too! Wildlife Watch is here for kids that can't get enough of exploring the great outdoors or those desperate to find out a bit more about the weird and wonderful creatures we share our world with. Wildlife Watch is the junior branch of The Wildlife Trusts and the UK's leading environmental action club for children and families.

Each session will have a different theme to learn about, activities to try and crafts to make. This group is designed for Primary-aged children (7-11). Younger children are welcome to attend but may not get the most out of the event. Accompanying siblings aged under 3 may attend for free. Please book a ticket for every one attending, including adults, to ensure we manage numbers on site.

The sessions will be outside so please come dressed appropriately. You don't have to be a Wildlife Watch member to attend, everyone is welcome. However, if you are members you will benefit from the discount attendance fee and your activities can count towards your awards!

March - Leap Into Spring: An introduction to spring at the Ramsey Heights nature reserve. Join a walk around the site looking and listening for signs of spring. We will make clay pots and plant seeds, and other nature-based activities.

May - Spring Eggstravaganza: We will be looking at spring behaviour of different animals and all the different eggs that can be found in the natural world, be it insects to reptiles to birds, all are fascinating to discover. We will be looking at how you can help nature to reproduce in your own gardens and how to best protect those fragile eggs! As it's Mental Health Awareness Week too we can try out some wild yoga! We will have a spring-themed activity to make.

July - Butterfly Walk: We're heading out to beautiful and historic Woodwalton Fen NNR to take a guided walk spotting and recording butterflies and day-flying moths. We will make a butterfly feeder to take home.

October - Here Comes Autumn: A discovery trail around Ramsey Heights NR looking for signs of autumn and mammal tracks. We will check our trail cameras for activity and open the moth trap to see who visited overnight. We will create some wildlife art using what we can forage from the site.

December - Winter Warmers: Gather around the fire as we make hot drinks with our Kelly Kettles and toast marshmallows. We'll be getting crafty making eco-friendly decorations like crackers and beautiful willow shapes.
