About this event

  • 6 hours

Taking place on Sat 21 September Great Lengths will be Brighton & Hove’s first inclusive swim challenge. The event bridges the gap between indoor and outdoor swimming at the brand new Sea Lanes on Madeira Drive – the UK’s first national open water swimming centre.

This is an amazing opportunity for anyone with a passion for the sea or swimming to go to Great Lengths, challenge themselves, and raise money to help young people with learning disabilities – our candidates – to find paid employment and reach their full potential.

Take part as a team (eg a swim group or business) or as an individual.

Use the discount code EARLYBIRDY to claim 30% off registration. Hurry, offer ends at midnight Sunday 16 June. OR sign up to our mailing list to boost that discount to 50%.

This is the TEAM registration page. As a team, you can split your chosen distance and swim in relay. A team is three or more people.

The Challenge

Our candidates challenge themselves almost every day in their training. So we’re inviting you to challenge yourself too. Participants will be able to choose from a range of distances to relay among your team members.

Distances: 400m | 800m | 1.6k (1 mile) between 3-5 participants

2.5k | 5k (3 miles) between 3-10 partcipants

Timings: 'Early' (11-2pm) and 'later' (2-5pm). Current timings are approximate.

All participants will receive:

  • a reusable Great Lengths swim cap
  • fundraising support from our team
  • A free swim at Sea lanes before the event.
  • to reduce the waste, an edible medal on completing their personal challenge, expertly made by our young people in our training cafés

About Team Domenica

Less than 5% of people with learning disabilities are employed in England. Far too many are missing out on the basic right to aspire to a career, along with the wider social networks, better emotional and physical health, and increased independence that comes from having a job. They share the same aspirations as everyone else and they want nothing more than the opportunity to demonstrate their full potential.

At Team Domenica, we strongly believe that young people with learning disabilities have the right to work, to lead fulfilling and purposeful lives, to have their individual gifts and talents recognised, and to feel included as valued members of society.

Based in in Brighton & Hove, Team Domenica offers young people with learning disabilities - our candidates- the opportunity to change their lives through a programme of education, work-based training in our cafes, work experience and wellbeing.

What we're doing is working. Since opening an amazing 84% of our candidates have moved into paid employment rate through our Supported Internship Programme.
