Event description

Now in its 12th year, the Great Northern Contemporary Craft Fair is the North’s largest and most established annual celebration of contemporary craft.

Set in a Grade 2 Victorian market building in the heart of Manchester on Deansgate, this award-winning event hosts over 150 of the UK’s finest designer-makers and craft artists. All exhibitors taking part have been specially selected for their excellence, with jewellery, interior and fashion textiles, ceramics, glass, furniture, print and more on show.

Meet and talk to the makers and discover the inspiration and stories behind their work. This is an opportunity to buy direct from the artists or to commission your own unique, handmade piece.

Yes but it's cheaper to buy in advance and saves you queuing on the day. Buying in advance also means you can get a group together and make a trip of it!

I am bringing a student group, what do I need to know?

If you are a teacher and plan to bring a group of more than 10 students please email us with details of the day and ETA. We get a lot of students on Friday so we want to make sure we are prepared to process large groups and fast-track your entry. If you prefer, you can pay by cheque payable to Great Northern Events NW Ltd on the day or we can invoice you for you to pay by bank transfer. We also request you brief your students on our student protocol which is here

Refunds will be given up to 7 days preceding the event. Please contact ann-marie@greatnorthernevents.co.uk

Can I use my ticket on another day?

Your ticket allows for entry on one single day but the tickets are transferable to other days.

My ticket says Thursday but I thought I'd bought for another day...

Eventbrite prints the tickets detailing the show opening from Thursday through til Sunday - it's confusing, as on first glance, you think your ticket states it's for Thursday. This is not the case unless you have specifically bought a ticket for the Private View Evening. Your general ticket is not valid on the Private View evening.

What time does the GNCCF open on Thursday 10 October?

The GNCCF is ONLY OPEN IN THE EVENING from 6-9pm. It is a Private View only. You can buy advance tickets for the Private View or buy at the door.

How can I contact the organiser with any questions?

If you can't find the answer on our website www.greatnorthernevents.co.uk under information then please email ann-marie@greatnorthernevents.co.uk

Is the event family-friendly?

We welcome families with children but children under 14 must be accompanied by an adult. Children under 16 get in free if accompanied by an adult. Children coming alone will need to buy a concessionary ticket. Please note that the event has many expensive and breakable object,s so children must be kept under a watchful eye. The GNCCF is a shopping event and due to space constraints in our new venue, we regret that there will be no workshops for children or adults this year, though there will be some exhibitors demonstrating their craft.

Is there a cafe on-site?

There will be a small licenced cafe selling teas, coffees, sandwiches, cakes and other light refreshments, plus wines and beers.

Only food purchased in the cafe can be eaten there. Those not eating and visitors with packed lunches will be asked to move if the cafe is busy.

Getting to the GNCCF & parking

The GNCCF takes place in Upper Campfield Market Hall, which is just off Deansgate in Manchester city centre. This is diagonally opposite the Hilton Hotel. The postcode is M3 4FN and the entrance is in Campfield Arcade, between the Cervantes Instituto (Spanish Institute) and Dimitris Restaurant.

Deansgate mainline station and Deansgate/Castlefield Metro Stop are 3 mins walk away. Follow signs to Deansgate and head in the direction of the Hilton Tower.

There are plenty of car parks within a few mins walking distance, the nearest being Great Northern NCP. There are also meter bays but the maximum stay is only 2 hrs and we are certain you will want to stay longer! Disabled bays are on Tonman St at the side of Upper Campfield Market.

How do we find out who is exhibiting?

A full list of exhibitors can be viewed on the website.

Is the event wheelchair friendly and have good disabled access?

The GNCCF is all on the ground floor, is disabled friendly with disabled toilets. Disabled parking bays are on Tonman St, adjacent to the Upper Campfield Market.
