About this Event

This seminar gives an overview of global development which has been rapidly changing in recent years. Over a time period of 200 years we will go on a journey to look at how life expectancy, child mortality, how many children families have, how climate change emissions has changed and what it means to be on a low income and extreme poverty. In the light of coronavirus, how have previous pandemics affected global development and is the current one likely to be any different?

Keith Tomlins is an Emeritus Professor of Food Science who has worked in global development in Africa, Asia, Caribbean, Pacific since 1987. He has a strong interest in how development has changed over time and whether this has made an impact on people’s lives.

The GREat Talks at Medway will be delivered online via Zoom. Details will be emailed to those registered to attend.
