Event description

This event is open to anyone who works in Greater Manchester and is interested in quality improvement (QI).

Event Overview:

Throughout 2018 we are supporting five events for anyone who works in Greater Manchester and who is interested in joining the Q Community. Whilst each is a standalone session, we hope and recommend that you can actively join the community in attending as many as possible throughout the year.

The Book Club is intended to meet the aims of the Q community; to develop, inspire, innovate and problem solve. We're also seeking to build skills amongst our Q members in GM, that support a community who share, challenge & learn together; to ultimately support members to effectively implement QI knowledge into practice.

What will attendees learn at this event / workshop?

Our unique format is structured to explore the overarching themes from the ‘Habits of an improver’ (Health Foundation 2015). In the paper, Professor Bill Lucas describes a perspective of viewing the field of improvement via 15 ‘habits’ which individuals like yourself regularly deploy.

The five broad headings include the following and are the themes for each of the sessions:

Day 1 and Day 2 Summary -

Day 3 - Systems thinking - 28 June 2018 - Richard Preece, Executive Lead for Quality, Greater Manchester
Health a
nd Social Care Partnership

Day 4 - Resilience - 26 September 2018 - Sir Stephen Moss, Turnaround Chief Exec, Mid Staffs

Day 5 - Creativity - 14 November 2018 - Helen Bevan Chief, Transformation Officer, NHS England

All sessions will run 9:30am - 1:30pm (lunch provided) and will take place in Manchester. Specific venue details will be sent to you upon signing up.

You will be provided with pre course material to be discussed at the first session. For further sessions, you will have the option of taking a book as a hardcopy or ebook to be discussed at the next session. Please note all books are to be returned.
