Event description

Description

Join us for the next group meeting of the soil amendments field lab, this time hosted by Helen Browning Organics. We will be hearing updates of the different growers running their own trials, comparing amendments such as woodchip, biochar, composts, mycorrhiza etc. in horticultural systems. This will be followed by a tour of the new agroforestry planting at the farm with a range of fruit and nut trees including novel plantings like almonds, goji berries and sea buckthorn. We will finish with a practical soil health activity.

Amendments for Soil Health in Top Fruit field lab is being undertaked as part of the AHDB GREATsoils CP107b project. It is also supported by Innovative Farmers. This is the fourth meeting of the group. Find out more about this field lab.

If you are interested in the trial but can’t make get in touch to let us know at GREATsoils@soilassociation.org.

THIS EVENT IS FREE BUT BOOKING IS REQUIRED

Agenda
10.30 Arrival and coffee
11.00 Updates from the triallists, including any preliminary test results

13.00 Tour of site–
14.00 Soil health practical activity

Who should come? The workshops are aimed at growers, but may also be useful for farmers and advisors. We expect that growers will already have a basic understanding of the link between soil health and plant health and will be looking to understand more about this and how soil testing can be used to strengthen their growing system.

Workshops are open to all, however in the event of high demand, preference is given to AHDB levy payers and Associate Members. Find out more about the benefits of AHDB Associate Membership.

Please email Simone Osborn at GREATsoils@soilassociation.org with any queries. Sign up here for GREATsoils updates.

This field lab is also a part of Innovative Farmers
