Description

Our Green Angels programme is for girls aged 12-18. It is the ideal programme to learn new skills, connect with nature in a fun and exciting way. You will also make some great new friends along the way as we explore some of Edinburgh and The Lothian's amazing wild places. Green Angels days can also count towards Duke of Edinburgh Skill or Volunteering Sections. Ticket sales close 5 days before the project date.

The sessions all run on a Saturday with the exception of the overnight residentials in May and September.

  • All sessions depart from Tynecastle High School at 9.30am, returning 5pm
  • Transport is provided in The Green Team minibus to and from Tynecastle
  • Participants should bring warm and waterproof clothing, a packed lunch and water
  • Maximum of 10 participants per session

Jan 27th EDINBURGH ZOO
Help improve habitats within the grounds and with a chance to meet some of the animals close up.

Feb 24th BAWSINCH NATURE RESERVE, EDINBURGH
Find out about the birds and wildlife that live on the reserve. Help plant shrubs and trees to enhance their habitat.

Mar 24th BUTTERDEAN WOOD, NR HADDINGTON
Explore this lovely East Lothian woodland as it springs in to life. Help to improve some of the woodland habitats for wildlife.

Apr 21st PENICUIK ESTATE
Help us remove some of the estate's invasive species and explore the woodland and wetland habitats.

Jun 2nd URBAN SAFARI TO THE ROYAL BOTANIC GARDENS EDINBURGH

Walk down the Water of Leith on safari and record what we find. Our destination, The Royal Botanic Gardens with tasks to complete in the Edible Gardens.

Jun 23rd NEWHAILES WOODLAND
Help the ranger with woodland management tasks. Explore the estate and find out about the wildlife that lives there.

Aug 25th HOPETOUN HOUSE, SOUTH QUEENSFERRY
Explore the estate and get close to the resident deer herd. We will work with the rangers on woodland management tasks and create some environmental art.

Sept 15-16th VOGRIE COUNTRY PARK, DALKEITH
Take part in various woodland tasks and footpath improvements. Look for bats and other signs of wildlife as the sun fades. Accommodation in a bunkhouse with the park grounds.

Oct 6th WELLS O'WEARIE, HOLYROOD PARK
Explore this secret site in Holyrood Park. Find out about the wildlife that lives here and carry out vital conservation tasks.

Nov 17th BAWSINCH NATURE RESERVE
Explore this lovely city reserve and all its varied habitats for wildlife. Try some bird spotting in the hide and help improve the reserve for wildlife.

Dec 8th ALMONDELL COUNTRY PARK
Help with some woodland tasks along the banks of the river before returning to the visitor centre to look around and make festive wreaths
