Green Fingers: from tiny business to blossoming franchise with £200
Wed 12 October 2016, 12:00 – 13:30 BST
A warm welcome to our monthly meeting for small, new, growing and still-not-quite-sure businesses in Bassett and beyond. From anywhere, in fact! You're welcome to attend our free, friendly and fun business network.
Our aim is to build a community and help develop supportive networks. Each meeting will begin with a guest speaker. Then it's time for networking, when we'll aim to make sure that you connect with as many people as possible. No one gets left on the sidelines.
This month we welcome a very special guest speaker. Janet French, director of Johnson Gardening Services, is already franchising out her business model, after just 18 months in business.
Come and find out how she did it - the key tips to marketing, time management, and customer connection.
In her own words:
"The last 16 months really have been amazing and we couldn't have imagined we would be where we are now - but with careful planning and the adoption of a set of standards rare in the industry. We are really set to succeed."
12:00 Guest presentation
12:30 Intro round
12:45 Networking & nibbles
13:30 The energised 'farewell'
Tea and coffee provided, of course. Bassett spring water to boot (springing from the tap). And your centre manager Jol will always be happy to give you a tour of the centre, the meeting rooms, hot-desk area and any available offices.
Have you got an interesting story to tell? How did your business grow? What works for you (and doesn't work)? We're always delighted to hear from people in business who'd like to share, so please give us an email
Please register free so we know how many to expect. Many thanks.
This event sounds too good to be true - what's the catch?
Oh ye of little faith ...there is no catch here. This event - like Manor House Enterprise Centre where it's taking place - is provided by TEN - The Enterprise Network, a Wiltshire Council initiative to help and support small business in Swindon and Wiltshire. Please visit our website if you'd like to find out more: www.theenterprisenetwork.co.uk
I'd like to meet other business people to discuss things - but am a bit wary of 'networking'
The 'networking' part of our event is designed to help you meet as many possible allies in a short space of time. You're not going to have the time to solve the problems of the world, or even your marketing strategy, but we hope you'll swap contact details or business cards, and follow up the event with your own one-to-one meetings.
Networking, my aunt! Last time I got stuck with one person for 73 minutes (ok, maybe that's just what it felt like) and ended up with a migraine, twisted ankle and chronic phobia of business events.
We get it. So during the networking part of our event, we'll be 'ringing a little bell' every 7-8 minutes - that is the time to move on and find someone new to talk to. So no embarassing silences, no endless conversations, no ..."I wish I were ..."
What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?
There are regular buses from Swindon - 55/55A - stopping at Lime Kiln or High Street, Royal Wootton Bassett - both a short walk from Manor House Enterprise Centre. www.swindonbus.info/tts/055.htm The trip takes about 25 minutes.
We have a small car park in front of the centre and there is plenty of unrestricted parking on the residential streets around the centre. (Although our address is High Street, you need to turn into Lime Kiln (right opposite the Murco petrol station) then take the first left into our car park.)
Someone mentioned office space, hot desks and meetings rooms to rent ...
We certainly did. Here at Manor House Enterprise Centre we've got it all for a small, start-up or growing business. Whether you just need an official business address (ask about our virtual office package) or a real spot to lay your laptop, connect your Blackbury, or network your printer ...we can offer anything from a half-day hot-desk to your very own office with full facilities and no hidden extras. Take a look at the website or get in touch with your questions and to arrange a viewing.
Where can I contact the organiser with any questions?
Please email Jol at email@example.com You can also get him on 01793 230708 sometimes.
Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?
No you don't. And please do bring any friends or colleagues who will be interested - just email us beforehand to let us know (or ask them to register here on Eventbrite). firstname.lastname@example.org
The name on the registration/ticket doesn't match the attendee. Is that okay?
