Green Man Sculpture Pottery Workshop
Overview
Hello,
My name is Helen McCormick and I'm a local ceramic artist and teacher. I've been creating objects from clay for the past 30 years, and I still absolutely love the process. I am passionate about teaching and have created this workshop to share my skills, knowledge and experience with anyone who would like to have a go for the first time or to develop their skills further.
This workshop is designed to be a relaxed, friendly space where you can meet new people and have the opportunity to create, learn and have fun. In the morning, you will learn how to design and hand build your green man sculpture from clay using traditional slab-building techniques. In the afternoon, you will learn how to add colour to your work and carve patterns into the leaves to complete your masterpiece.
All materials and equipment will be provided. Tea and Coffee will be available throughout the day. The only thing you need to bring is a packed lunch and an apron or wear old clothes. I would advise to trim any long nails, as the clay is very soft to model.
After the workshop, I will carefully take your sculpture home and fire them in my kiln. Your beautiful creations will be ready for collection 6 weeks after the workshop finishes from Nancy Potter House. I will let you know the time and date.
I am happy to store your work up to 6 months after the workshop, after which time it will be donated to charity.
