Introducing a new way to volunteer, and a new Community Day opportunity, Green Schools!
As a community, we share the responsibility for the well-being of our children. Oldhill Community School and Childrens Centre was once a thriving community asset, but its sensory garden and forest school have fallen into disrepair and are no longer safe for the children to enjoy.
Due to extreme budget constraints and lack of support, the garden is in great need of extra hands and some attentionn to revitalise the space. It consists of a pond area, with seating for the school’s pupils, local community groups, staff and parents, and encourages the visitors to enjoy a refreshing break in nature. The forest school is also a space for outdoor activities and learning, helping young children understand our connection to the natural world through imaginative play, bug hotels, bird boxes and plant identification.
Volunteers will be busy with a range of gardening tasks, all aimed at transforming Oldhill's green space.
