About this event
Case studies of success for solar. Register Now!
In recent weeks applications for solar farms in villages near Swindon and Andover have been granted planning permission, thanks to a degree of support from local communities.
Solar farms of this scale (50MW) require sites of up to 100 hectares. Planning considerations have to balance the imperative of the climate emergency with concerns amongst the local community.
In this short Zoom event for Winchester Green Week 2020, the energy consultants responsible for these planning applications will share their thoughts about the local factors that led to a successful outcome. The discussion will broaden to consider prospects for more solar farms in Hampshire, and Winchester District in particular.
The Carbon Neutrality Action Plan of Winchester City Council states its intention to “build or invest in large scale renewable generation projects.”
