Description

Our Green Volunteers programme is for young people aged 12-18. Take part in positive action for the environment, spend time in wild places, learn firelighting and wilderness survival skills and meet new people. For those aged 14+ you can complete the Duke of Edinburgh Award Volunteering or Skills sections. Explore some of Edinburgh and the Lothian's amazing wild places and get connected!

Ticket sales close at 5pm on the Thursday before each project date.

The sessions all run on a Sunday with the exception of the overnight residentials in March and September.

  • All sessions depart from Tynecastle High School at 9.30am, returning 5pm
  • Transport is provided in the Green Team minibus to and from Tynecastle
  • Participants should bring warm and waterproof clothing, a packed lunch and water
  • Maximum of 12 participants per session

PLEASE ENSURE YOU CHECK THE MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS IF YOU ARE DOING YOUR DUKE OF EDINBURGH AWARD.

January 20th GLENLUDE, INNERLEITHEN.
Create brash hedge enclosures to protect newly planted trees. Toilets on site.

February 3rd EDDLESTON WATER/TWEED VALLEY
Tree planting along the River Tweed to create natural flood barriers.

February 24th MUIRAVONSIDE COUNTRY PARK
Learn the art of drystone walling to create and restore field boundaries. Toilets on site.

March 16-17th GLENLUDE
Brash hedging and tree planting for woodland regeneration. Accommodation in the local Village Hall. Toilets available.

March 24th CORSTORPHINE HILL
Clear and burn the invasive shrub Salmonberry from the woodland.

April 7th LEVENHALL LINKS, MUSSELBURGH
Hedge planting and fence removal. Toilets available.

April 28th PENICUIK ESTATE
Woodland management and invasive species removal. Toilets available

May 5th TWEED VALLEY
Tree planting along the River Tweed to create natural flood barriers. Toilets available.

June 9th CRAMOND BEACH CLEAN
Be part of a big beach clean event to remove litter and plastic from the shore. Toilets available.
