The Borough of Greenwich became a Royal Borough in February 2012 It has a long maritime history and many Royal connections. Henry VIII was born here as were Mary I and Elizabeth I. Hear the story of the sad demise of the Christian martyr St Alphage and see the eponymously named church. Visit the magnificent Painted Hall and The Chapel of St Peter and St Paul. Across the road is the Queens House, the first Palladian style house in this country. It's not all distant history. Hear about a little known nuclear reactor and see the site of the equestrian events for the 2012 Olympic Games which were held in Greenwich park.
