About this event

  • 4 hours

Carving freshly cut green wood with a sharp knife is an enjoyable and mindful experience. In our session David will have a range of wood including hazel sticks and prepared blanks of spoons, spatulas or butter knives for you to complete. We’ll learn how to use a carving knife safely and there will be an opportunity to use hook knifes, draw knives on a shaving horse or learn axe hewing techniques.

All tools and materials provided. Be careful though, greenwood carving can be very addictive!

David Knight is a trustee at Wild Oxfordshire Charity and has over twenty years experience in green woodworking. He runs courses at Hill End Outdoor Education Centre and is the coordinator of the Oxfordshire Bodgers, the local group of the Association of Pole Lathe Turners and Green Woodworkers
