About this event

  • Event lasts 3 hours

Greyfield Wood is designated a County Wildlife Site with a mix of ancient woodland and newer trees. Please meet at the entrance to the woods (limited parking there or walk down from Greyfield Road, no parking in the private lane leading to the woodland):

We will begin by exploring the woods, wander down to the waterfall, and then head across to Timsbury Basin, across one main road, and a different route back for a lovely circular walk.

Bath Women's Fund member, Yvonne Bignall, will lead us on the walk. Yvonne loves these woods and the local area, experienced coach and supporting women to focus on self-care.

Please allow up to three hours and bring good walking boots/trainers. Wonderful opportunity to enjoy the stunning woods and lovely local scenery - and find out more about Bath Women's Fund and giving circles, the local organisations we have supported, opportunities to get involved, and connect with each other.

Refreshments:

Please bring water and any other snacks you might want to stop and enjoy. It is important to keep hydrated. We will keep an eye on the weather forecast and send out any specific advice ahead of the walk.

Access:

Not wheelchair accessible (parts are but the route we are likely to take will not be).

Dogs welcome and we will no doubt meet plenty of dog walkers, who tend to be very good with looking after their dogs when passing walkers.

The terrain in the woodlands is made up of fixed stone paths as well as uneven terrain, depending on the paths used and how far into the woods we go. There is a relatively short steep path down to the bridge that leads to the waterfall area. Manageable.

There are gates to go through, no stiles to climb over and small bridges (both wooden and stone) to walk across - some have handrail support, some do not, however, most are no more than 3-5 foot long.

Livestock – sometimes there are cows in a few of the fields but not always. They tend to ignore the public and Yvonne will encourage mindfulness in terms of voice volume if we have to walk past them.

Be prepared to cross one main road from Greyfield Wood to the path that leads to Timsbury and Paulton Basin.

Please email info@bathwomensfund.org.uk with any further questions about the walk or location.

Organised by

Bath Women’s Fund celebrates women’s philanthropy and the inspiring local people and organisations that empower and support women and girls. We give collectively to achieve a greater impact – each member donates £25 per month (or £20 plus Gift Aid), or more if they wish.

Together, we decide each year on a theme for grant making, learn about the issues involved and then decide how the funds will be allocated to make the biggest impact.

Bath Women's Fund members have now made grants of over £100,000 since 2020 when we awarded our first ever main grant of £10,000 to Mentoring Plus for their Inspiring Girls project. In 2021, our main grant of £15,000 to The Women's Work Lab supported a programme in Bath to support women into meaningful employment. The 2022 main grant of £15,000 was awarded to SARSAS (Somerset and Avon Rape and Sexual Abuse Support), in 2023 to the Black Families Education Support Group, and to Youth Connect South West in 2024.

This is a great time to join Bath Women's Fund as all members will be involved in our 2025 grant programme. Details of how to join on www.bathwomensfund.org.uk or email info@bathwomensfund.org.uk
