Explore one of the city’s most iconic landmarks with this tour of Grey’s Monument.

Built in 1838 to commemorate Northumberland-born reformist, abolitionist and prime minister Charles Grey, the Monument sits atop grand Grey Street and cuts a striking form against the city’s skyline.

Join Newcastle City Guides and journey up Grey’s Monument while discovering its rich history before enjoying breath-taking panoramic views across the city.

This tour is free but tickets must be reserved.

Please meet your tour guide at Grey’s Monument. This tour lasts approximately 30 minutes.

Please note that there are 164 steps to climb and at some points the staircase is dark and narrow. Therefore this tour is not suitable for wheelchair users or people with breathing difficulties, heart conditions, a fear of heights or confined spaces or those in the latter stages of pregnancy.
