Grief First Aid - Online 4 hour course

This workshop gives participants the tools and confidence to support someone during grief in a grounded, compassionate way. We’ll explore how grief affects mental health, how it can show up in both obvious and unexpected ways, and the emotional and physical toll it can take. Participants will learn practical strategies for having compassionate conversations, setting healthy boundaries, and signposting to the right support. There’s also space to reflect on your own emotional resilience, and what helps you stay steady when others are struggling.

Topics covered include:

  • Introduction to grief, its different forms and the key grief models.
  • Emotional, psychological and physical effects of grief.
  • Understand the overlap between grief and mental health conditions such as depression and anxiety
  • The importance of setting personal boundaries to prevent emotional burnout.
  • Supporting individuals experiencing grief by active listening and compassionate communication skills.
  • Identify helpful and unhelpful responses when engaging with grieving individuals.
  • Understand when and how to signpost individuals to professional support services.

What is the class size for training sessions?

To ensure that everyone gets the most out of our training sessions, each of our in-person courses is limited to a minimum of 6 and a maximum of 16 people.

Our courses are suitable for all individuals aged 18 and above who wish to raise awareness about grief and it's relation to mental health, as well as to acquire skills for providing support. No prior knowledge or medical background is necessary to attend.
