Grievance and Disciplinary Investigations: A participative half-day workshop based around a real-life case study – back by popular demand, an updated version of the workshop Susanna and Rosie ran in 2016 and ideal preparation for those of you thinking of attending the mock Employment Tribunal Kent CIPD are running on 4 March.

The price includes a buffet lunch from 13:00 - 13:45 and gives you an opportunity to network. Registration is at 9:00 with the session starting at 9:30.

 

Description of Event:

A participative half-day workshop based around a ‘real-life’ case study covering the following:  

 

  • Determining the allegations/TOR for the Investigating Officer
  • Documentary evidence and review
  • Conducting the interviews
  • Note taking
  • Reviewing evidence
  • Reaching conclusions and recommendations
  • Writing the report
  • Case to be heard: Talking to the report at the disciplinary/grievance meeting

Susanna Rynehart, Employment Partner, Jones Chase. Susanna is a qualified lawyer who specialises in employment law. Susanna has been listed in Chambers & Partners since 2011 as a Leader in my Field, the 2018 publication reports “she is extremely knowledgeable and very easy to work with”.

Rosie Serpis, HR Directions Ltd:

Rosie Serpis is a Senior HR professional with over 35 years experience across the public, private and third sectors. Working at board level, she has extensive experience in all aspects of HR management and strategic development including: organisational change, job design and evaluation, reward and recognition, health and wellbeing, employee engagement, executive recruitment, personal executive coaching and team development. Rosie is an experienced Employee Relations advisor and was appointed as an Non Legal Employment Tribunal Member in 2002. Rosie left corporate life in 2008 to found her own consultancy business, HR Directions Ltd, where she continues to work with corporate, NGOs and NfP organisations on all aspects of HR. She works with individuals on career coaching, executive coaching and 1:1 employment related advice.

 

 

Susanna and Rosie ran a very popular (and ‘sold-out’) half-day workshop for us on “Life’s too short to litigate” last year; we are delighted to welcome them back and would advise early booking to secure your place!

Pay and display - Upper Castle Field, Bank St, Tonbridge TN9 1BL – 2 minute walk from the Old Fire Station

or at the nearby Lower Castle Car park, Slade Street (by the swimming pool) which is approximately four minutes’ walk to the Old Fire Station.

Tonbridge Station is about ten minutes walk.

Accessibility: The workshop will take place on the ground floor which is accessible.

CIPD Kent Branch

We are the Kent branch of CIPD - the professional body for HR and people development. The not-for-profit organisation champions better work and working lives and has been setting the benchmark for excellence in people and organisation development for more than 100 years.

 

We have a wide range of organisations and CIPD membership and we respond to this with a full selection of CPD and networking opportunities.

 

Due to the geographical spread of the county we have 3 area groups – Mid Kent, West Kent and East Kent. Between them they regularly hold sessions with guest speakers on subjects requested by the members. Most events are supported by local companies who host the events and provide an opportunity to meet other HR practitioners.

 

We also appreciate the specialisms within HR and have Special Interest Groups that meet regularly and occasionally have speakers. These groups include Health and Social Care and Senior Practitioners. Similarly we have smaller bespoke groups, Self Managed Learning Groups that operate throughout the county. These include the Coaching Groups in East Kent and West Kent. We  encourage the creation of new groups so if there is not an area covered, why not set one up?
