About this event

    This is a recording of a talk called Griff Rhys Jones on Restoration recorded in 2021.

    With thirty years of practical experience in conserving old buildings from the City Road to Strumble Head, President of the Victorian Society, Griff Rhys Jones, looks back at the aspirations and pitfalls of rescuing many buildings including the Victoria Baths in Manchester, the Hackney Empire, farm buildings in Suffolk and Wales and a disused factory in Clerkenwell.

    In this talk, he considers:

    • how fund-raising can be organised;
    • what the actual price of integrity is;
    • how to work with the planning system;
    • what can be learned from conservation builders; and
    • how to discover the joys of graded slate.

    After booking a ticket, you will be given access to the recording of the event. Please ignore the event date in the listings.
