WHAT YOU WILL LEARN
During this 1-day introductory class (depending on how fast you work and with a little help from Tim Kirman) you will be guided through the basic steps of making a small stained glass window hanging measuring approx. 15cm x 15cm using the lead came method.
No experience required!
You will learn all the basic skills needed to make a stained glass window hanging such as:
Selecting suitable glass.
Scoring and breaking glass to fit a pattern.
Grinding glass.
Lead cutting.
Soldering.
Attaching support rings.
Cementing*.
Finishing.
*Due to time limitations cementing of panels may not be possible on the day.
WHAT YOU WILL TAKE HOME
A finished stained glass piece made by YOU with vibrant glass colours!
Your window hanging design will be ready for you to begin your own stained-glass journey. All supplies, materials and equipment will be provided by Tim. Just bring yourself, an open mind to learn, and the bravery to break some glass!
ONLY 5 SPACES AVAILABLE PER SESSION
Please wear sensible shoes and clothing that you do not mind getting a little bit dirty. No open toed sandals or similar footwear. Aprons will be provided.
Working with lead can affect your health with prolonged exposure. Gloves and face coverings will be provided were required and guidance will be given regarding the safe handling of all materials throughout the session.
