Join Charlie Harpur (Knepp), Benny Hawksbee (Eden Nature Garden) and Tim Hewitt (St Mary’s) for a full day of hands-on wildlife gardening. Three expert gardeners, one inspiring day filled with practical techniques, ideas, and advice on gardening better for wildlife.
The day will be split into three small groups of 10 participants. Each group will rotate between three 1.5-hour workshops, giving you the chance to learn directly from each gardener:
- Charlie Harpur – Managing a Dry Bed: Learn how to work with challenging dry conditions, including planting, pruning, spacing, seeding, and maintaining a healthy seed bank.
- Benny Hawksbee – Infrastructure for Insects: Discover how to create diverse habitats using posts, boxes, heaps, cob, stems, gabions, ponds, and topography to support pollinators and other beneficial wildlife.
- Tim Hewitt – Managing Mixed Borders: Explore techniques for mulching, seeding, planting bulbs, cutting back, staking, and pruning to create vibrant, wildlife-friendly borders.
Expect a relaxed, collaborative day where you can get hands-on, ask questions, and network with fellow wildlife gardeners. Teas, snacks, and lunch are included.
