In this free artists’ workshop, learn how to navigate the tricky terrain of writing applications for funding, exhibitions and projects – led by David McLeavy.

Groundwerk is a monthly series of free practical workshops for artists and creatives wishing to gain the skills to support their practice.

This workshop is free to attend and open to all but booking is recommended as spaces are limited.

ABOUT DAVID MCLEAVY

David McLeavy is an Artist, Writer, Curator and Director who lives and works in Sheffield. He is currently the Director of Bloc Projects, Sheffield, Founder and Editor of the website YAC | Young Artists in Conversation, Co-founder of the international residency and exhibition programme Picnic Picnic, Sheffield and Co-founder of the sports clothing company Curbar Cycling. Recent projects include Means, Abingdon Studios, Blackpool, Moments of Zen, Turf Projects, Croydon, Try To Trust Me, STCFTHOTS, Leeds and Italian and British artists meet Milan N.2, BeatTricks, Milan.

Founded in 2013, Turf Projects is the first entirely artist-run contemporary art space in Croydon, South London. Turf Projects are a charity organisation working to support the development of artists, curators and the public through an ambitious programme of free exhibitions, workshops and events.

Established by creatives with a personal connection to the borough, Turf now comprises; a gallery space exhibiting work from emerging & established artists; an artists workspace & events space; and an affordable studio provision for artists & makers.
