How we do the ceremony

The beginning: We begin by cleansing the space and our energy, then move into a grounding meditation and connecting with your intention. Participants will then drink 1.5L of filtered water or manioc (cassava drink that will help absorb the body’s toxins). Kambo can be applied anywhere on the body, but it is more effective near the lymph nodes. The Matsés men usually apply it to the chest and thighs, and women on the shoulders and ankles. Other tribes serve the men on their shoulders and chest, and women on the ankles. For your first session, I will either place the medicine on your arm or leg. We will decide together on the day of the ceremony. In any session after that, we can explore the back with the chakras, stomach, ears + more.

A small stick is used to burn the first layer of skin with a number of points, dependent upon the person’s age, health, and energy. Usually for a first treatment, one should expect to receive 3-9 points. However, some require less and some much more. Generally these marks fade within two weeks and disappear completely within 6 months, depending on how healthy the body is at the time of placement.

The Middle: Usually the effects of Kambo are felt within 1-3 minutes, depending on the area of the body the gates were placed. You will know Kambo is kicking in when you start to feel a slight temperature rise and energetic rush in the crown chakra. At this time your practitioner will bring focus to your breath and suggest you breathe deeply and slowly. Try to observe what sensations you are experiencing. With the awareness of your heartbeat rising, it will be time to relax, focus on the breath and surrender to the process. Allow yourself to find your breath, meditate and quiet the mind. If you would like to drink some water, you’re welcome to. Your heart rate will begin to rise for a couple of minutes and you will have a lot of sensations and possibly some swelling (as the medicine is flushing the system out) in the throat and face. You will feel a slight discomfort in your stomach while bile is ejected into your stomach, from the liver and gallbladder. Decades of toxins are loosened and collected, and soon the purging will begin helping to ease the discomfort.The uncomfortable part of the experience is NOT the Kambo, it is the toxins your body is releasing. You manifest this discomfort every day, but don’t realise it, because this negative energy is dispersed throughout the body. Kambo gives us the gift of opening the body, mind, and spirit. It cleanses desensitisation. Many emotions may be released during your session.

The End: The energetic pressure and temperature will soon reduce while the process is nearing resolution. The entire process will usually take approximately 20-40 minutes varying between individuals. Typically you’re not throwing up that whole time. Purging comes in many forms: crying, sweating, burping, yawing, laughing, shaking. About 5-15 minutes of that can be intense while deep purging is happening.Energy pulses throughout the body and the hands, with a sense of electricity circulating in each and every cell. The cleaner and stronger the body, the easier the process will be, and it happens quickly; usually in a few sessions. After Kambo is removed from the top layer of skin, the entry points are closed with a Peruvian anti-bacterial/anti-fungal tree sap (Dragon’s Blood). This helps the entry points heal faster and acts as a ‘liquid bandage’, while offering a secure antibacterial barrier. DO NOT cover the points with a bandage, and DO NOT pick at the points or try to remove/clean off the Dragon’s Blood. Two days after treatment, on top of the Dragon’s Blood, colloidal silver or coconut oil can be used to aid the healing process and limit scarring. Please stay away from chemical-laden ‘healing’ products.The entry points will heal and fade with time but depending on your skin colour and type you may always have small visible scars. Most people see their Kambo scars as a badge of honour.Some cases require a longer session and the recovery can be longer. These are rare cases. Even people with serious illnesses or drug addictions tend to recover quickly. The majority of people are fine to drive home after, and generally can go on about their day as normal, but they may feel the Kambo working in the digestive tract.In the jungle, hunters take this medicine, then go on very long hunts. The following day, you should feel great, and have more and more energy each day. Be sure to drink lots of electrolytes and stay hydrated. I recommend taking the day off from any other activities to process your ceremony & just be.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Things To Be Cautious About:

• Best to do Kambo before cosmetic procedures like Botox and fillers for example, as the medicine will remove them
• Sleeping supplements
• Active eating disorders – honesty is appreciated, for your safety
• Active drug or alcohol addiction. Depending on the substance, there must be a period of abstinence. Please discuss prior
• Do not consume any alcohol or other recreational drugs 48 hours before or after your treatment
• Long-term fasts or water fasts for 7 days before or after taking Kambo
• Colonics, enemas, liver flushes, or any water-based detox should be avoided within 3 days before and after taking Kambo
• Please make me aware of any recent vaccinations or planned vaccinations, to ensure your safety
• If you are asthmatic, please bring your inhaler with you
• If you are diabetic, please bring your insulin tester

Contraindications:

• Serious heart problems (heart bypass surgery, enlarged heart, implanted cardioverter defibrillators, congestive heart disease, heart valve replacement surgery)
• If you struggle to do intense cardiovascular exercise because of your heart condition, then Kambo is not suitable.
• Organ transplantMedicated low blood pressure. Mild low blood pressure is not an issue
• Stroke
• Aneurysms or blood clots
• Severe epilepsy
• Serious mental health conditions including, but not limited to, psychosis or psychotic episodes and disorders, such as mania and schizophrenia. This excludes depression, PTSD and anxiety, for which Kambo is a treatment with a high success rate.
• Lack of mental capacity to make decisions about taking Kambo e.g. dementia
• Medicated low blood pressure
• Recovering from a major surgical procedu - Wait 4 to 6 weeks afterwards
• Pregnant or breastfeeding women with babies under 6 months of age. Though Kambo helps with fertility, it dries up the milk, so it is not recommended whilst breastfeeding
• Within 42 days of giving birth
• Addison’s Disease
• If you’re taking immune suppressants for organ transplant
• Under 18 years of age
• Ethlers Danlos Syndrome
