Event description
Group Supervision Experimentation Labs

About this event

Greenfields Supervision Experimentation Labs are the group supervision equivalent of the AOCS Co-Supervision Space events which focus on individual supervision techniques.

They offer the opportunity to crack the "catch 22" problem of who we practice new techniques with, other than our existing clients. Group supervision Experimentation labs offer you a more ethical and robust alternative.

Each participant will be invited to choose one group supervision technique from my recently edited book (101 Coaching Supervision Techniques, Approaches, Enquiries and Experiments) which they want to practice . The session will start with brief introductions and contracting for the work to come. Participants will stay as a single group for the entire session. Depending on numbers some of the group may move in and out of observer roles. However, the intention is for each person to take a turn at holding and facilitating the group, practicing the supervision technique of their choice. Michelle will hold the space and will facilitate the developmental feedback discussion after each practice round. There will be time for a learning review before taking a 15 minute break. After the break, the process will be repeated with different participants practicing their chosen group supervision technique. Learning from the whole workshop will be shared in a final plenary before closing.

Coming together for once a quarter during 2021 & 2022, you will have the opportunity to practice techniques in a safe environment, to extend your skills and to get genuinely candid and developmental feedback from your peers.

Who is it for?

Supervisors who are comfortable holding the group supervision space and who want a place where they can deepen and extend their practice.

Supervisors who take an abundant approach to sharing knowledge within our professional community, and to developing and continuously improving professional competence, standards, and learning.

Supervisors who want to connect, collaborate, consolidate, and continue to learn together.

Supervisors who have access to their own supervision should matters remain unresolved as a result of the experimentation with peers

How would it work?

Members will meet virtually (Zoom) for a maximum of 180 minutes (pausing half way through for a 15 minute break)

We will host sessions quarterly, dates are published here on EventBrite

21st October 2021: 09:00 - 12:15 (UK)

7 December 2021: 14:00 - 17:15 (UK)

Michelle Lucas will host the Group Supervision Experimentation Lab and can share her own understanding of the chosen techniques and the philosophy from which they originate. However, this is not a training session on the psychological philosophy nor the chosen techniques. The spirit of the Experimentation Lab is a shared space for experiential learning amongst equals who are catalysts for self-directed learning.

The focus of the Group Supervision Experimentation Labs is for the participant to experiment with new group supervision techniques and receive feedback. Given the work will be in service of the learning, participants (as supervisees) may well leave with unfinished business. We therefore strongly recommend participants have access to their own supervisor and ensure they follow up any incomplete or unresolved issues professionally and independently of this Greenfields event.

Each session is priced at £125+ VAT for non members and £100 + VAT for AOCS members. Attendees will receive a discount code to purchase the book

There will be four sessions per year which can be purchased as a package for £400 + VAT Those purchasing the package of 4 will get a complimentary print copy of the book 101 Coaching Supervision Techniques, Approaches, Enquiries and Experiments (RRP £26.99)

What are the anticipated outcomes?

Our aspirations for the group are:

A community of engaged professional coaching supervisors who take an ethical approach to extending their skills, choosing to hone their practice with their fellow supervisors before they use them with their supervisees.

A rich and generous sharing of knowledge and experience with techniques for individual supervision.

A trusted network of experienced colleagues to turn to for peer practice outside of the Group Supervision Experimentation Labs
