Online event

A free forum for voluntary groups and individuals in Somerset who use growing and gardening to support positive change in their communities.

About this event

Recent events have highlighted the important role that community growing projects can play in promoting health and wellbeing and protecting our natural environment.

Following the last forum in April, this meeting will bring together Somerset-based social enterprises, voluntary organisations and individuals who ‘grow for good’.

Whether you’re involved with a community allotment, therapeutic garden, or any other initiative which uses growing and gardening to support positive change, come along to network and share ideas with others who are involved in similar projects.

Speakers for this forum:

Helen Gillingham, Co-ordinator of Transition Town Wellington

Transition Town Wellington manage 8 different sites around the town where food is grown for the local community in a sustainable way, to support wildlife and biodiversity. Helen will talk about how they created a foraging and recipe guide and how you can get a copy to adapt and share with your community.

Tristan Faith, Founder of The Food Forest Project

Learn about The Forest Food Project, which designs and plants food forests using permaculture principles. The planting is designed to be low maintenance, with a variety of perennial, edible plants, making wild food available for the local community for many years to come.

Tickets to this event are freely available to staff and volunteers from VCSE groups in Somerset. This is an online meeting and you will be sent joining instructions upon registration.
