Community and environmental charity Groundwork East are running this course, 'Grow it, Cook it, Share It' which is completely free to attend and will focus on learning more about where our food comes from, what’s in season, how to grow food alongside savvy shopper tips and recipe ideas. It’s geared around prepairing and cooking low-cost, nutritious meals that families can enjoy eating together.

WHERE: Memoral Park Communuity Garden / Allotments
WHEN: Every Monday, for 5 weeks startingon 28th July & ending on 25th August 2025
TIME: 11am - 12.30
Each week will cover a different topic such as growing herbs and salad on the windowsill, growing from leftovers and preparing and cooking food with young children. There’ll be recipes to take home and try, with dishes inspired by Bedfordshire's diverse communities.
The team from Groundwork leading the courses will highlight how shopping local and reducing food waste is good for our pockets and the planet. Like a lot of the country, food scarcity is a pressing issue for a growing number of people in Central Bedfordshire with research from the Trussell Trust showing an increase of food parcels being given out increasing by 94% over the last 5 years.
At Groundwork East, we want as many people to enjoy our events as possible. If there are any reasonable adjustments that we could consider making to enable you to fully participate, such as increasing font size of resources please email kealey at kealey.henderson@groundwork.org.uk
If the event is sold out, please join the waitlist. If families drop out of the course, you will be invited to take their place.
