About this event

This ten-week course is for all writers over 18, whether seasoned or just getting started, who want to bring new life to their writing. The weekly workshops are designed to help you identify what stops you writing and what connects you more deeply with your innate creativity.

We'll experiment with techniques to help you develop a sustainable writing practice, in a supportive and encouraging environment where you can cultivate your creativity alongside others. You can also drop in to online sessions between classes to write companionably with others in the B-Writing community.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to be an experienced or confident writer to join?

No. Some people who've taken the course before haven't written before, and some have been writing for years . It's designed to help people find ways to get writing and keep going, and isn't dependent on experience. Please get in touch if you want to know if the course is right for you.

Will I have to read out or share work?

Only if you want to. Each course is tailored to the group, so we decide whether to share work individually, and only if that suits the people involved.

Do you offer concession tickets?

Please get in touch with bwriting@icloud.com if you're unable to pay the regular ticket price and we'll see what we can work out.

How do I get to the Birmingham & Midland Institute?

The venue is 0.3 miles (about 6-10 minute walk depending on your walking speed!) from Birmingham Snow Hill station, 0.4 miles from Birmingham New Street station and 0.6 miles from Birmingham Moor St. It's also close to bus stops on Colmore Row.

What are the course dates?

This is a ten-week course beginning on Wednesday September 17th from 6.30-8.30 pm. There is no class on Oct 29, and the final class will be on December 3rd.

Is there an age limit?

This course is for people over 18.
