Event description

Description

This month's XChange networking event is taking place at the Birnam Hotel.

The theme is 'tourism' and we're delighted to be presenting an information session on the Scottish Enterprise 'Planning to Succeed' programme where a group of up to 12 local businesses can receive support over a three year period to assist with:

* Developing and improving existing businesses

* Establishing new forms of income-generating activity

* Improving marketing of the business, particularly through new or improved websites,
use of social media and email shots

* Improved financial planning and accounting

* Engagement in collaborative ventures with other group members' businesses

And anything else the group needs help with.

Jackie Green from Scottish Enterprise will be available to answer questions. Jackie has worked for Scottish Enterprise since 2000. She is a Project Manager within the Rural Team which is focussed on developing the economy of Rural Scotland but providing different types of support to businesses including Planning to Succeed and Rural Leadership programmes. Jackie is based in the Scottish Borders but works with businesses located in the Scottish Enterprise area of Scotland.

Jackie will be joined by Thomas McGonigle from Dal Riata. Thomas has been Project Manager/Facilitator for five Planning to Succeed groups supporting approximately 55 rural businesses in the establishment and development of collaborative groups. These groups include the Breadalbane Tourism Cooperative, the Scottish Mountain Biking Association, The Ale Water Valley Tourism Group, Ayrshire Country Sports Group and most recently the Borders Equestrian Tourism Group. Thomas's career spans over 25 years in the hotel and travel industry across the UK and Ireland in a range of senior operational and management positions and he has an excellent reputation for strategy development and review, project management, industry consultations, workshop facilitation and innovation support for the tourism sector.

We're also marking the first six months of the Griffin & Calliachar Enterprise Fund and will hear from some of the businesses which have benefited from an enterprise grant.

There will be a buffet from 6.00, followed by a panel of speakers on topics to be confirmed.

There will also be a chance to network.

All welcome.
