Grower Seasonal Workers' 2024 Roadshow: Lincolnshire/Spalding 19/03/24

The morning workshop (9am-12:30pm) will support grower good practice in recruiting and employing seasonal workers in order to reduce risks, safeguard their rights and enhance their on-farm experience. It will cover an update on the Seasonal Worker Scheme for the coming season, developments to the UK Grower Seasonal Workers’ Toolkit & Checklist and focus on addressing key challenges identified through Defra surveys and other sources including: Preventing and addressing worker complaints and grievances; Optimising supervisor capability; Understanding and dealing with cultural differences; Provision of accommodation and work equipment.

The afternoon workshop (1:15pm-4pm) will support growers to improve supervisor capability and conduct with regards to seasonal worker people management skills to improve worker satisfaction and engagement, in turn supporting more efficient team operations and better overall yields from seasonal employment periods. This session will focus on seasonal worker supervisor development through a train the trainer session to support on-farm, start of season supervisor training modules practical worker interactions in the field.
