Join us for a fun and informative networking event at Mountwise Neighbourhood Centre, where you can connect with like-minded individuals who share a passion for nature.
Find out how the Neighbourhood Centre is being given a new lease of life, especially the garden which is being given some TLC with help from the #GreenCommunities rangers.
Learn from experts in the field and discover new ways to incorporate nature into your daily life. Whether you're an experienced gardener, a seasoned nature enthusiast or just starting out, this event is perfect for anyone looking to grow their knowledge and networks. Don't miss out on this opportunity to expand your horizons and connect with gardeners and nature lovers, in a unique and wonderful setting.
Check out the plant and seed table (do bring some to share too).
Get some seasonal pointers on how to manage your gardens, community growing spaces and allotments.
We will be sharing the #GrowingResilience handouts:
~ How to use water wisely in your Garden
~ Slugs and Snails - Problems and Solutions
We will also be featuring the Growing with Nature map - and updating it. Do check to see if your local community gardens, orchards and green spaces are on the map!
Weather permitting, the guided walk between 5:30 and 6:30 pm will be down to the River Tamar at Mutton Cove and up to the wild flower area above the swimming pools. This will give us an opportunity to identify wild flowers and edibles.
Mount Wise is designated as a County Wildlife Site because of its limestone grassland and records of six Devon Notable plant species:
- Round leaved crane's-bill
- Autumn ladies tresses
- Knotted hedge parsley
- Ivy broomrape
- Cowslip
- Hoary plantain
We can't promise we will find all of these ... but there are plenty of other amazing plants growing in this special wildflower area.
Drinks and light refreshments will be provided. If you are going on the walk, please dress for the outdoors and wear appropriate footwear.
