Event description
CONFERENCE POSTPONED UNTIL SEPTEMBER 2020

About this Event

Following recent developments in the Covid-19 outbreak, Volunteer Centre Sutton has reluctantly decided to postpone our conference “Growing Your Organisation: Inclusive Volunteering”, which was due to take place at the Holiday Inn Sutton on Thursday 26th March.

This is not a decision that was taken lightly, but as we have some potentially vulnerable attendees coming, as well as speakers travelling from other parts of the country, we have taken the difficult decision to postpone, prioritising the health and wellbeing of all the conference’s participants.

Plans are already underway to reschedule for later in the year, and this conference will now take place in September 2020. More details to follow.

All ticket holders will be contacted to transfer their tickets to the new date or to be offered a refund.

Standard ticket 1 person £30

Volunteer Centre Sutton is pleased to be holding a conference for volunteer involving organisations on growing your organisation through inclusive volunteering.

The conference is supported by City Bridge, London Plus, Volunteering Matters, British Red Cross, Leonard Cheshire, Volunteer Centre Greenwich, Choice Support, Sutton Mental Health Foundation and various local organisations.

Our goal with this conference is for all parties involved to leave knowing how to support the growth of their organisation through volunteering opportunities that embrace disadvantaged groups, including but not limited to: young people, disabled people, people with mental health difficulties, people on the autistic spectrum, and refugees-- and feeling confident in their capacity to use such knowledge.

Discussion panels and workshops will be led by a number of external speakers: led by the charity sector, for the charity sector.

Workshop topics will include:

  • Involving Volunteers with Additional Needs - Volunteer Centre Greenwich
  • How to understand Autism and Sensory Overload - Volunteering Matters
  • Refugees, Asylum Seekers and the Law - British Red Cross and Volunteer Centre Sheffield
  • Supporting Volunteers with Mental Health issues - Sutton Mental Health Foundation
  • What do Young People want: engaging young volunteers - Volunteer Centre Sutton
  • Practical Solutions to possible Barriers for volunteers with Physical Disabilities - Leonard Cheshire
  • Learning Disabilities: Overcoming barriers to volunteering - Choice Care
