Grown not Given - Understanding Curriculum in the EYFS

The Curriculum that we shape for children describes what we want them to learn and how this is sequenced, progressed and deepened. While the EYFS provides a framework for this, the curriculum itself needs to be ‘grown’ and ‘owned’ by the educators that use it. Central to this is ensuring that it identifies and meets the specific needs of the children that we work with. It also needs to acknowledge that alongside the Prime and Specific Areas of Learning and Development, the attributes that make a successful leaner also need to be part of the Curriculum.

This Keynote will focus on what we mean by a curriculum, how we develop it to support the children in our provision and how this needs to include all aspects of what we want children to learn.
