FREE - Growth Mindset (GMS) training for Teachers with funding for supply teachers**
Next Steps Cornwall would like to invite teachers from your school to attend a Growth Mindset day at the Truro Business Space on Thursday 8th December from 9:15 am to 4:00 pm.
This event will also be a celebration event for Next Steps. During the day you will have the time to network with other teachers and schools as well as receive important updates from our partners as part of the National Networks for Collaborative Outreach (NNCO) scheme.
The Growth Mindset CPD will help teachers to understand the terms and incorporate concepts and theories:
- Praising the Process
- Intelligence isn't fixed and Fail is not a negative word but, the First Attempt in Learning
You will be given:
- A questionnaire on assessing your own GMS
- Handout materials to support the course
- Links to the Character Manifesto
- Focus on the Sutton Trust findings, linking the GMS and marking assessment and feedback
In schools today, the focus is not only on helping students and pupils pass exams, but also on improving their character by making them more resilient. Resilience in learning as in life is about being able to persevere through setbacks, take on challenges and risk and making mistakes to reach a goal.
This course sets out to answer questions on the need to build competence, through resilience, the need to model and learn from failure. Examples will be drawn from and links made to the Growth Mindset (GMS) and the Character Manifesto.
Delegates will return to their settings with a deeper understanding of the need to foster a GMS and how potentially to use and develop a range of strategies that promote resilience.
There are a total of 48 places available on this course and places will be allocated on a first come first served basis.
Full lunch and refreshments will be provided and an agenda will be provided closer to the event.
