A little History: Seaham Coastal Rangers was created by Seascapes following several popular events hosted on our coast during the project. In partnership with Durham Wildlife Trust and Seascapes, The Sea We See was assisted and encouraged to establish a permanent monthly youth group based around ocean Literacy. We were fortunate to receive sufficient funding to develop and host 12months of sessions. Funding has now stopped, and we continue to support our young members with vital ocean learning. Sessions have now been developed to inspire beach learning and physical oceanography. They will run monthly on a Tuesday. Contact us if you would like to see a session running on a beach nearer to you.
FAQ
We do not wish to exclude families with small children. If they can get down onto the beach and you can keep them comfortable, then any age is welcome.
Unfortunately, due to the terrain we will be crossing, this particular event will not be suitable for wheels of any kind beyond the meeting point.
We prefer you not to. Your dogs, your pet may be very well-behaved, but others on the beach may not. We wouldn't want your experience to be spoiled.
What should I bring? Be dressed for the weather, what ever it is at home, it will likely be slightly cooler on the beach. Good walking shoes for winter and perhaps wet shoes in the summer.
Will we get wet? Well, that is mostly your choice; we are Open Water Swim Lead trained and can support such an activity. However, we prefer to keep you warm and dry during the colder months.
