Event description

Description

Want to learn new skills in film making, podcasting, creative writing, community organising and more?

Want to play with fact and fiction to plant some playful, positive stories into Weston-super-Mare?

Come and join the unit!

You don’t need any particular skills to take part (although if you’re an ace photographer, digital whizz or experienced writer then of course we’d love for you to share your knowledge). The heart of the Unit’s work is telling tales and spreading them around town and online.

We’re particularly keen to collaborate with people who wouldn’t usually take part in arts activities – whether that be people in care homes, sleeping on the streets, or working in shops on the High Street. So over the course of the autumn we’ll be working together to invite different groups to create stories with us.

The Guerrilla Media Unit is facilitated by John Norton (Director of Give It A Name Theatre, DJ and BBC Radio Producer), and produced by Terrestrial with local artists Karen Blake and Pete Goodrum. And we've got some wonderful visiting experts coming to teach us new skills over the coming weeks.

We meet as a group at Weston Artspace every Monday evening, with people working on stories and mini projects for the Unit in their own time during the week.

23rd Sep: Assemble the Unit / Planning Session

30th Sep: Documentary journalism and podcast workshop with Ceri Jackson.

7th Oct: Writing workshop with Tim X Atack

14th Oct: Graphic Design workshop with Matt Squid
