About this event

  • Event lasts 3 hours

Part of Theatreship's guest nights - where contemporary artists take over the ship to highlight the stories they want to tell.

In this edition, Alvin Carpio presents an exclusive preview screening of their documentary, followed by a conversation moderated by Lizzie Pickering.

Here's some more info from the organisers:

Join us for an exclusive preview screening of rites, a powerful short documentary by Alvin Carpio exploring childhood bereavement, grief, and healing. The film follows Alvin’s personal journey to honour his father’s memory decades after his passing — a moving and deeply human story for anyone who has lost a loved one as a child.

Following the screening, there will be a conversation moderated by Lizzie Pickering — grief counsellor, author, and producer — who brings decades of experience supporting people through loss. This intimate event offers space for reflection, discussion, and connection ahead of the film’s official World Premiere.

This screening is suitable for audiences aged 12+. The film includes sensitive themes of childhood bereavement and grief, which may be emotionally impactful for some viewers. There is some swearing, no nudity, nor substance abuse.

We also offer arts supporter tickets, for those that can, to pay a higher price to support the venue, the artists who perform here and subsidised tickets for others.
